On December 28, 2019, the runway and taxiway reorganization project of Nepal Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport was completed by AVIC International Engineering, and then handed over to Nepal operation team.
Mr. Hou Yanqi, Chinese ambassador to Nepal, and some key government officers attended the hand-over ceremony, including Mr. Mr. Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, and Civil Aviation, and Mr. Rajan Pokhrel, Director General of CAAN.
Tribhuwan airport is the only international airport in Nepal at present. The project broke the ground on April 3rd of 2019, including the reconstruction of the main runway, taxiway and the installation of the central line lights in the main runway. This is the largest runway maintenance and upgrade project of the airport since 1975.
“With the completion of the project, we are happy to see the improvement of aviation infrastructure at Nepal”, said Mr. Hou Yanqi, “ the upgraded airport will bring increasing connectivity and more tourist to Nepal, and enhance friendship and economy relationship between China and Nepal.
During the ceremony, AVIC International Engineering executive also expressed their intention to complete new project by higher standard.
